The course "SIT COMPREHENSIVE WORKPLACE FIRST AID" has finished This covers the following:
Basic Life Support (Unit Standard 6402)*
- The basics of keeping someone alive in a life-threatening situation. (managing a collapsed person, CPR, use of an A.E.D, and managing Choking).
Provide First Aid (Unit Standard 6401)
- Recognising and managing common illnesses (Asthma, Diabetic Emergency, Chest Pains, Seizure, and Stroke)
- Recognising and managing common injuries (severe bleeding and shock, thermal burns, simple fractures, soft tissues injuries, and poisoning).
Managing First Aid in an Emergency Situation (Unit Standard 6400)
- Managing complicated wounds and injuries (including amputations, embedded objects, internal bleeding and crush injuries, chest wounds, chemical and electrical burns, open fractures)
- Recognising and managing anaphylaxis and heat illnesses (hypo and hyperthermia) - recognising and managing head and spinal injuries.
*To complete the practice and assessment for the CPR component of this course students need to be physically able to get down to floor level, kneel beside the manikin and get up again.less This covers the following:
